After an inspiring chance encounter with his idol, rookie journalist Jay Bahadur uproots his life and moves to Somalia looking for the story of a lifetime. Hooking up with a local fixer, he attempts to get embedded with the local Somali pirates, only to quickly find himself in over his head.
So how can a biography count as propaganda? The events in the movie may have happened, but the underlying message it attempts to portray is your typical Hollywood Leftist ideology (ie: lies/propaganda/BS). If you think common criminals and/or terrorists are "Freedom Fighters", or just plain good people who are just misunderstood and mistreated, then you are no doubt a person who identifies with and allies yourself with such people (ie: you're a Leftist) and this movie will appeal to you.
The movie goes out of it's way to paint Somali Pirates (terrorists) as Patriots who are merely defending their countries waters from the Lefts most hated "terrorists", that would be any evil white western nation. Oh thank you Jay Bahadur for showing the people of the world the point of view of these terrorists (err, I mean misunderstood freedom fighters), you're a credit to the Left's two most influential propaganda arms, schools and media!
In the real world a Nations reaction to terrorists is, and should continue to be, 'See a terrorist, kill a terrorist'. I know this policy breaks the hearts of their Leftist allies around the world, but if all of us were delusional sheep like they are we'd all be dead because there wouldn't be any adults to deal with real world problems.
So for those wondering if this is worth a watch: Leftists will love it as they eat up the victimhood angle that their terrorist allies are painted with, and on the Right, well it just gives you more insight into the psyche of our own domestic enemies. I give it two stars for good acting and not putting me to sleep despite the propaganda.
